PEEL 520ii 2nd GEN REVIEW IN SINGAPORE

The new Yosion 520 Gen 2 is here in Singapore and being tested by us.

Here is our review.

Outlook:

The Peel 520ii looks great and it really imitates the iPhone 4. With its glossy black glass back, it really is sleek and look very solid.

Unlike the C-Peel, it doesn't come with an external battery. Instead the battery is built-in just like the iPhone.

The SIM card also needs to be inserted from the side just like the iPhone but without the tray. 

The Peel also fits the iPod Touch 4 perfectly.

Calls and SMS:

The quality of the call is unbelievably clear. Unlike its predecessor, the call quality is just like a normal phone. There is no echo or distortion of the other party's voice like the previous version. 

The SMS however still has bugs which needs to be fixed. The incoming SMS gets jumbled up with gibberish.

These bugs can be fixed with a software update.

GPRS / EDGE:

The Peel 520ii also comes with a GPRS connection. However, when tested the Peel caller ID wont work when using the GPRS. The ringtone is also muted. The Peel however, will still vibrate when there is an incoming call. This too will be fixed soon.

Radio / FM Tuner:

The radio app works good giving clear sound quality, with the use of a ear jacks as an antenna. 

BlueTooth Function:

This feature was not yet available during our test, although the hardware and software interface is already installed into the Peel. Hopefully this function would be available after a software update since the hardware is already there.

Peel 520ii BEST FEATURE:

Personally I find this to be the best feature in any iPod Peels. The Peel 520ii has the ability to be used as a external backup battery / power juice. That means no more worrying that your iPod Touch would have a dead battery as soon as you start playing your games.


To summarize, the Peel 520ii 2nd Gen is a must have for iPod Touch 4 users. Although there are a few hiccups, these can be fixed with some software updates.
